Halloween

As Halloween approaches, instead of giving children those pre-cut orange circles and black triangles, give them this ANTI-COLORING BOOK® page. It is a sketch of a pumpkin to be created completely by the child. One of my favorite stories to read around this time of year is Pumpkin Light by David Ray (a Paper Star book by Putnam & Grossett) about a young boy’s fascination with Jack-O-Lanterns. There are lots visuals in the book that will inspire art.

I just published CELEBRATIONS as an iPad app, and you will find art and writing prompts about all of the holidays to share with young artists there as well.
